Figured I'd make an introductory post just to explain what in Makai this site is for. I originally bought the domain for a variety of reasons:
So I could have a cool email address
So I could have a dedicated domain to host all my files since standard file hosts are getting on my nerves
To create the Thousand Year Kingdom etc.
It was only recently that I realized the official wiki lacks a lot of specific statistics for the more obscure demons. It doesn't help that SMT in general seems to more niche despite it's huge comericial sucess and legacy, to the point where tons of hugely significant games have no real hopes for any translation anytime soon.
Most of all though, I failed to find any central news site or information resource surrounding the series(In English anyway), which is what inspired me to crap out a basic css layout and get to work opening up Makai. I also realized this gave me the benefit of working with SQL for compendium information, which is much faster and more organized than editing wiki layouts. It took me about 3 days to get all the information for SMT1's database sorted and displaying correctly, and I think now that I've gotten the hang of it, I should be able to spit out more compendiums much faster.
What I hope to do with this website is to create an up to date feed regarding official and unofficial SMT related content, as well as an accurate and non-intrusive place to find statistics and solid information about the games mechanics. Bonus points if I can provide downloads for content, scans/translations/ost/sprites/etc. With that, I also hope to be able to slightly tighten the community and their contributions. With the recent release of SMTIV, a lot of fan content and development has taken off; the only problem is that the information regarding these projects is all over the place, and can be hard to come by unless you lurk specific social feeds. Basically, I wish to make the SMT-equilivant of http://www.serebii.net/ or rather a network of Digital Devil Story content (a DDS-NET if you will B-])
With that being said, if you have any website/blog/project of your own related to SMT, make sure you shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I would be glad to hotlink directly to you, and/or keep up with it in terms of reporting. I'm also willing to host SMT-related content for people if they want, I will be uploading some artbook scans of mine in a week or so, once I fill out the SMT2 compendium.
tl;dr: Demons of Legend from ages past have awakened from their long slumber. Soon, they will overrun the Earth!
